Start with the court and the cause number. That pair opens the door to Duval County civil court dockets, since district civil, county civil, probate, family, and justice-court matters each run their own track through the local courts. The official dated calendar shows when a hearing is set, and the clerk or a linked case-history service can pull the file behind that setting. Read each entry with care, though. A motion is only a request, not a ruling, and a trial setting proves nothing about whether trial actually happened. For the real result, look past the short note to the signed order.

Duval Civil Calendar Versus File

A calendar PDF and a case file answer different questions. The PDF tells when a matter was set and may name the setting, counsel, and a short note. The clerk's register records chronological filings. Document images provide the actual motion, pleading, order, or judgment. Certification is a separate clerk service.

This distinction prevents a common error. A summary-judgment motion on a Duval County civil docket means the motion was set or noted. It does not show that the judge granted it. A settlement note also may not mean a final judgment was signed. The filed instrument controls.

Civil Dockets: What They Show

The January 13, 2026 Duval district civil sample shows a compact field set: cause number, style, setting, attorney, and notes. Its labels include motions, temporary orders, final hearings, final pretrial, summary judgment, contempt, spoliation, and trial. Each label describes a scheduled event unless a filed order states the result.

Cause numberThe exact file identifier used by the court.
StyleThe case caption as shown on the calendar.
SettingThe motion, hearing, pretrial, or trial set for court.
AttorneyCounsel listed for the event, when present.
NotesBrief context that does not replace a filed order.

Duval Civil Search Screens

The District Clerk-linked iDocket service supports a basic name search by state, county, and litigant name. Advanced controls can include category, case type, court, party role, attorney, filing dates, disposition dates, Soundex, and company search. History views may sort motions, orders, answers or citations, other actions, costs, payments, and ledger items.

The official Duval County Clerk page identifies the local office responsible for county-court civil, probate, guardianship, copy, and certification services.

Duval County civil records and County Clerk information

The County Clerk source helps route county-level civil record requests, while district civil matters remain with the District Clerk and its linked search service.

What Cases Fill the Civil Docket

District work can include general civil disputes, title-to-land matters, and family proceedings within district jurisdiction. The generic civil calendar can contain temporary orders, final hearings, contempt matters, and other family settings. The filename alone does not prove the case type. County-level civil and probate matters follow the Constitutional County Court route. Justice courts handle small claims, debt claims, evictions, repair-and-remedy cases, and other civil work within their authority.

  • District civil and land-title disputes
  • Family and domestic-relations proceedings
  • County civil, probate, and guardianship matters
  • Justice-court debt and small claims
  • Eviction and repair-and-remedy cases

Duval Lower Civil Court Routes

Four JP precincts mean four possible lower-court destinations. JP1 and JP2 are in San Diego, JP3 works from the Benavides Civic Center, and JP4 is in Freer. The county Justice page links forms for eviction, debt claim, small claim, repair and remedy, and the civil case information sheet. A form is not a docket search.

Venue comes from the filed case, not convenience. Use the precinct printed on the paper. If only a party name is known, give the JP clerk a narrow date range and record type. The Duval County Justice page is the official directory for the precinct route.

Key point: Municipal courts are not the route for Duval civil claims. They handle fine-only city and ordinance matters.

Hearings on the Civil Docket

A Duval civil setting describes what the court expects to address. Temporary-order hearings can deal with interim relief. Final hearings and trials can resolve issues, while final pretrial prepares a matter for trial. Motion settings address a specific request. Contempt and spoliation labels identify issues placed before the court, not a decision that misconduct occurred.

Continuances and resets move an event. Add-on lists can place a matter on a calendar after the first PDF was posted. Check the filename and date, then look for a later notice. The district coordinator handles settings at (361) 279-6233, while the District Clerk at (361) 279-6239 handles the file and copies. The Duval County court schedule gives the full date-check process.

Duval Family Record Boundaries

Family cases require extra care. Public calendar labels may mention temporary orders, a final hearing, a social-study motion, or contempt. Attachments can contain information about children, homes, finances, or health that is confidential, sealed, or redacted. Request only the public part.

The District Clerk and coordinator can confirm the assigned court, setting, and current remote-appearance rules. A public PDF may omit protected attachments and may not list every filing. Missing detail is not a basis to infer a party's circumstances.

Temporary order
An interim direction while the case remains pending.
Final hearing
A setting intended to address final relief; the signed order shows the outcome.
Redaction
Removal of protected data from an accessible record.

Duval Civil Filing Context

Texas Office of Court Administration figures for fiscal year 2024 separate the county's civil streams. The district category began with 1,408 total cases, added 314, disposed of 312, and ended with 1,410. Within the ending count were 837 civil, 236 family, and 58 juvenile matters. The Constitutional County Court civil category began with 43, added 25, disposed of 25, and ended with 48.

837District civil cases at FY2024 end
236District family cases at FY2024 end
48County civil cases at FY2024 end

These are annual reporting categories, not live docket counts or numbers of unique people. Their value is structural: a Duval civil search must distinguish district civil, family, county civil, and lower-court records.

Who Can See Civil Dockets

Many civil docket entries are open, but access is record-specific. Judicial records under Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 are distinct from county administrative records under the Texas Public Information Act. Filed case material also follows statutes, court rules, sealing orders, and clerk procedures. The Texas Judicial Branch open-records policy is the statewide starting point.

Juvenile, sealed, confidential, and protected family material may not appear online. Probate and guardianship files can also contain protected personal and financial information. Ask for the public portion and say whether certification is needed. The County Clerk's fee sheet is dated 2014 on its face, so current charges must be confirmed.

Request rule: Give the clerk the court, exact cause number, names as filed, date range, record sought, and desired copy type.

A portal screenshot is not a certified Duval County civil record. Certification comes from the clerk that maintains the file.
